Wampus Cats to Host Independence Fireworks on July 3
The Uwharrie Wampus Cats are excited to announce the return of their Independence fireworks celebration on Friday, July 3, with this year’s postgame fireworks show presented by the City of Albemarle at Don Montgomery Park.
The Wampus Cats, Albemarle’s collegiate wood-bat baseball team, will take on the Queen City Corndogs at 7 p.m., with the fireworks show to follow immediately after the game.
“We’re excited to bring this event back to Albemarle and grateful to the City of Albemarle for helping make this year’s fireworks show possible,” said Wampus Cats owner Greg Sullivan. “Last year’s Independence celebration was one of the biggest nights of the season, and we’d love to see Don Montgomery Park packed again for baseball, fireworks and a great community night in downtown Albemarle.”
All Wampus Cats games include concessions and beer sales. No outside food or drinks may be brought into the venue. Parking at Don Montgomery Park will be reserved for those attending the game.
Tickets for the game, including the fireworks show, are $8 in advance online or $10 at the gate. Fans are highly encouraged to purchase in advance in case of sellout on the day of the game.
Fans may bring their own chairs and sit in areas that do not obstruct walking paths or seated sightlines.
